Briarwood Baptist Church was started by the Arkansas Baptist State
Convention, the Caroline Baptist Association and First Baptist Church of Cabot in 1989
with the first service being held on Easter Sunday of that year. The A.B.S.C.,
Caroline Association and FBCC shared the cost of two acres of land. eight people from
FBCC joined together to help Briarwood get started and called Rev. Scott
Hamilton as their first pastor. Shortly thereafter Rev. David Wiley became pastor and
served for about 9 years. During our fourteen years Revs. Jim Edwards and Jerry
Swindal have served briefly as interim pastors. Rev. Dave Reddoch became pastor in
July 2000 and retired in July 2004. Rev. Fred Reddoch served as Associate Pastor from
July 2002 to July 2004 and was called as Pastor on July 11, 2004. After having used
numerous mobile homes and modular buildings through the years, we moved into our new
building on May 2, 2002 expanding our seating capacity from 100 to over 250. We've
baptized over 80 people in the past 4 years and have had many others join us by moving
their membership. We praise God for this wonderful season of growth. Briarwood always
enthusiastically welcomes new people.
